Collie Buddz New ‘Light It Up’ Single

On October 15th, Collie Buddz released his highly promoted & anticipated new single “Light It Up”. The new single was met with a lot of excitement from fans leading up to the release, but fell short among a lot of fans, claiming the artist went too pop with a sell-out sound.

Collie Buddz is not completely blind to all of you hatin’ on his new track as he addressed the negative feed back scouring the social media networks. In a post on his Facebook page, here’s what Collie Buddz had to say with regards to the new single:

“I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to listen to the new track ‘Light it Up’. It is a pop track. However, I wrote it myself, it’s not some bubblegum processed pop sh*t, it’s original music that I created. I wrote it and wanted to put it out to experiment with different types of music that I like.

I’m not only going to make music like this moving forward, Reggae and Dancehall will always be my first loves, but as an artist I want to try different styles and share my art with people who like different types of music.

My fans mean the world to me, you all let me make music, and I appreciate every one of you, especially those of you who have taken the time to comment about ‘Light it Up’, come to a show, bought or downloaded the music and who love Reggae music. I have all types of new music that I am working on and I can’t wait to share it with you.
-Bless up!”

He makes a great point in that artists, such as Collie Buddz, will continue to challenge themselves by experimenting with new sounds that they like. It’s the only way to grow as an artist, otherwise you remain pigeon holed and any change will most likely be met with resistance. Long time fans may not be a fan of the new direction as a result of that experimentation, but we should still respect their art & contribution.

Luckily for Collie Buddz, as he has sang before, he is Blind To You Haters.
