In 2013, SOJA rocked over 100 shows in 17 countries on 4 continents; an effort that just recently put the internationally acclaimed band at over 3 million likes on Facebook. With a highly anticipated new record in the works, SOJA is gearing up to perform their first shows of 2014 this spring.
Dubbed Calm Before the Storm Spring Tour 2014, this aptly named run will take SOJA to their old stomping grounds, playing select cities on the East Coast. Fresh out the studio, the band will be sampling new material from their currently untitled upcoming album, which will be released later this year.
Before the tour begins, SOJA will be playing a “warm-up show” at a smaller more intimate venue called The Southern Cafe and Music Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia on Friday, March 21. In an effort to not only have a good time, but make an impact in the community in honor of someone in need that is near and dear to the SOJA/Red Light Management family; an infant who was recently diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. SOJA and The Southern will partner up to donate a significant portion of ticket revenues and food/bar sales from the performance to help ease the tremendous financial burden on a family, as they fight this disease. Organizers encourage concert attendees to bring monetary donations as well as stuffed animals that can be given away to many of the other brave kids battling cancer at the University of Virginia Children’s Medical Center. The Calm Before the Storm Spring Tour kicks off March 27th at the House of Blues Atlantic City before working its way down south through Virginia, North Carolina and into Florida for four nights, wrapping up April 10th in Athen’s Georgia. Supporting SOJA on this run will be several excellent acts. RDGLDGRN will open the first two nights, while Mariachi El Bronx will open the third. Murs will play the rest of the run with the exception of the show in St. Petersburg, Florida and living legends Inner Circle will be joining SOJA for three Florida shows, at Jacksonville, Orlando and St. Petersburg!
SOJA is also planning on performing several festivals this season. In mid-April, SOJA will head to Central America for IstmoFest in San Salvador, El Salvador and Empire Music Festival in Guatemala City, Guatemala. SOJA has also announced they will be performing at DC101’s Kerfuffle Festival in Columbia, Maryland on May 3rd, alongside great acts like 311 Cage The Elephant, J Roddy Walston and The Business, and more. On May 18th fans can hit the beach with SOJA, as they play a spot at the Hangout Music Fesival alongside a ton of acts including The Black Keys, The Killers, Outkast, Jack Johnson, Pretty Lights and many more! SOJA’s current list of tour dates ends on May 23rd as the band headlines the fist night of the California Roots music festival in Monterey, California.
