Jamaica’s I-Octane released his new album My Journey on March 4, 2014 on DJ Frass/Tad’s Record, available in stores and online. I-Octane debuted the album a day prior to release by offering the entire album for streaming on his website.
The reggae performer has been carving his way into the music scene for over five years and this album reflects all that he’s worked for with a soulful sound, backed by high energy. The 16-track album features songs that were written and produced by both I-Octane and producer Andre “DJ Frass” Gordon, who teamed up with Tad’s Record for the project.
“He is a youthful and refreshing sound in reggae, and his ability to transcend that without controversy into dancehall is deserving of high accolades,” said Tad Dawkins, President of Tad’s Record. “Like his name suggests, I-Octane is a high flame in the reggae/dancehall industry and we are privileged to be working with him and DJ Frass on this great project.”
The first single, “Love You Like I Do”, was warmly received by fans worldwide and got the attention of numerous radio stations. To complement the release of the single, he created a vintage-designed music video that has also gained attention from the media. Other songs to look out for include “It’s Alright”, featuring Gentleman, “A Yah Wi Deh”, highlighting Ky-Mani Marley, and “Lighters Up”, featuring Alaine.
The official album release event will take place on March 6 at Chris Gayle’s Triple Century Sports Bar in Kingston, Jamaica. Radio personality Big A, from Jamaica’s Irie-FM, will host the festivities, culminating a performance by I-Octane. In support of the new album, I-Octane will be touring internationally, including stops in New York and Switzerland.
“I want this album to help people to realize that we all have more in common than we are different,” stated I-Octane. “We all go through the same types of things and experience love, joy, pain and suffering in our own ways. I hope that once people realize this, it will be easier to see each other as brothers and sisters and to genuinely love each other.”
