Following the March 11th 2014 release of their new studio record, Stereolithic, and their big 311 Day show in New Orleans, 311 has spent the spring trickling out all 50 of their summer tour dates that span from June 26th to August 16th across 37 cities!
So far only the dates, times and ticketing information for the summer tour has been released. In the past, 311’s Unity Tour has featured an act or two as direct support for the entire run. For the 2014 Unity Tour, 311 has not made any announcements as to having a main supporting act.
On 311’s list of tour dates, many listings simply state “311 & Special Guest.” There are are several dates listed with The Wailers and for the shows in Arizona & California, the states’ own Katastro and The Wheeland Brothers, respectively, will open for 311. 311 will also be sharing the stage with other artists, such as Dirty Heads, The Expendables, Tatanka, Full Service, Passafire, Sublime With Rome, Ballyhoo!, The Urge & more.
It seems as if this year, 311 may be changing things up, playing shows billed as “An Evening with 311” with no support, or offering the opportunity for locally based, nationally touring acts to open the show.
311 is touring in support of their new record, Stereolithic, which debuted at #6 in March, resulting in the bands 9th consecutive record to debut in the top 10 via Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. The album also entered No. 1 on both the Rock & Indie charts.
311 recorded Stereolithic with producer & longtime collaborator, Scott Ralston, best known for his work on 311’s most popular releases, including ’93’s Music, ’95’s 311, ’97’s Transistor and ’99’s Soundsystem. The new 15 track album was mixed by Ralston & drummer Chad Sexton. This is the first truly independent release under their own 311 Records & distributed by INgrooves.
Over the course of their career, 311 has sold close to 9million albums in the U.S. alone. They’ve had 9 top 10 radio hits, including three No. 1’s, a the list includes: “Down”, “All Mixed Up”, “Amber”, “Love Song”, “Come Original”, “Beautiful Disaster”, “Don’t Tread On Me”, “Hey You”, and “Sunset In July”.
For 11 straight years, the band has headlined amphitheaters across the U.S. with their Summer Unity Tour.
