NOFX’s Fat Mike to Release ‘Cokie the Clown’ as Full Album

NOFX bassist & frontman, Fat Mike Burkett, is set to release Cokie The Clown as a full-length album in 2018. It will feature Travis Barker (Blink-182) on drums.

In 2009, Fat Mike, lead singer of NOFX and founder of record label Fat Wreck Chords, gave us a 5 song EP titled Cokie The Clown. It CokieTheClownwas recorded alongside NOFX’s 2009 release Coaster and features driving punk anthems like “Fermented and Flailing” and “Co-dependence Day” before culminating with the poignant and devastatingly honest acoustic track “My Orphan Year.”

There is no word yet if Cokie The Clown is a Fat Mike solo project or the next NOFX album.

Instagram videos from the NOFX frontman indicate he may be working with Danny Lohner for recording. Lohner is known mostly for his work with hard rock and heavy metal groups like Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, and Marilyn Manson.

Other social media posts allude to possible work with John Feldmann (Goldfinger), including texts between Burkett and Barker referencing Feldmann’s home studio. In addition to a 2017 Goldfinger album (see The Pier’s review for The Knife), some of John Feldmann’s most recent work includes writing, recording, and producing music for Blink-182, 311, and English rock band The Struts.

As of this writing, NOFX has 7 scheduled shows between now and July, including 4 festival appearances. Alongside Rise Against, they will headline Punk Rock Bowling at the end of May in Las Vegas, Nevada.
