Guitarist Bobby Chronic Announces His Departure from Tropidelic

Guitarist, Bobby Chronic, has officially announced his departure from Tropidelic, the notoriously energetic reggae rock band from Cleveland– marking the end of an era for the energetic Cleveland-based band.

Bobby Chronic, known for shredding his guitar behind his back, joined Tropidelic in 2012 and played a key role in shaping the band’s sound, contributing heavily to their breakout full-length album All Heads Unite. Over the years, his signature guitar work became a cornerstone of Tropidelic’s fusion of funk, reggae, rock, and hip-hop, helping define the band’s high-energy live shows and eclectic discography. Taking to social media,

Bobby released the following statement:

I just want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you. The milestones we’ve reached together, the dreams we’ve made a reality—it’s been nothing short of incredible. Many of you have welcomed me into your lives like family, and I will be eternally grateful for that. To be able to give back through something as simple and meaningful as playing the instrument I love has been pure magic.

Bobby Chronic of TropidelicThis August, I’ll mark 13 years with Tropidelic. There was a time when leaving for tour felt like I never wanted to come home. But as life goes, things change. Now, I have a reason not just to want to come home, but to want to stay home—my family. They love me, depend on me, and need me in ways that I can’t ignore.

As difficult as it is to say, I’ve made the decision to step down as guitarist from Tropidelic after Everwild. This journey has been a wild ride, one that I’ll always treasure, but the time has come for me to focus on my family and other passions. Words can hardly capture how much this has meant to me, and I’m not sure I’ll ever find a way to properly express my gratitude to all of you—my bandmates, our amazing team, and, of course, all of you who’ve supported us along the way.

So, for the next few months, I’ll be on stage, putting on the show I love with the people who have truly become my family. Let’s make a few more memories together, and bring this chapter to a close with all the energy and love we can. After that, I’ll still be making and playing music, and you’ll always find me at a show in Cleveland. If you see me out and about, don’t be a stranger—come say hi, share a story, and I promise I’ll greet you with the same warmth and love I’ve tried to give over all these years.

This isn’t goodbye—it’s just “until we meet again.” So I’ll see you when I see you, Tropi-holics.

At the time of writing, Tropidelic has not announced a replacement for Chronic, nor have they commented on how his departure may affect upcoming tour dates or future releases.

Fans of the band have already begun showing their appreciation and support online, thanking Bobby for over a decade of electrifying performances and contributions to the Tropidelic family.
