Cali Roots Day-by-Day Lineups

Now that the 4th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival official lineup has been announced, the focus is now on the individual dates each band and artist will perform. After all, this year’s edition of Cali Roots has expanded to 3 days, so find out when your favorite band will play!

The expansion from the 3rd to the 4th Cali Roots festival has added an extra day, as well as the addition of 13 more bands compared to the 2012 rendition. Returning from 2012 are headliners The Expendables and The Green, as well as Fortunate Youth, Seedless, Thrive, Josh Heinrichs and SkillinJah, who were both featured as final, late night performers last year, The Closeouts, Matt Masih and The Messengers and One A Chord. Interestingly enough, Seedless, Thrive and Matt Masih and The Messengers are the only bands to perform at every single Cali Roots festival to dates. Other Cali Roots veterans returning for either their third or second trip to Monterey, CA are Tribal Seeds (3rd Appearance), The Dirty Heads who performed at the inaugural California Roots Music and Arts Festival, Rebelution, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, Fortunate Youth, Pacific Dub and Mystic Roots among others.

As far as the individual day lineups, all three days have the depth from all corners of the Reggae-Rock genre. Friday, the opening night of the 4th annual Cali Roots Festival, will feature headliners The Dirty Heads, The Green, Rootz Underground, Fortunate Youth and Through The Roots, all leading up to the one, the only, Rebelution! If you made it through Friday night to Saturday, you are in for an equally towering day of music, featuring The Expendables, Tribal Seeds, Don Carlos, Tomorrows Bad Seeds and Maryland’s own Ballyhoo!. However, the ultimate night cap on Saturday night will be the forefathers of this genre, Slightly Stoopid!

One aspect of the 4th edition of Cali Roots is the presence of international artists, a first for the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Friday night features Rootz Underground from Kingston, Jamaica, followed by fellow Jamaican bredren and legendary singer, Don Carlos on Saturday night. Sunday’s lineup will feature, by far, the band that has traveled the furthest to California Roots, not only this year, but in the history of the event: New Zealand’s, Katchafire! Bermuda’s Collie Buddz will be featured Sunday night with New Kingston band, as well. But, the grand finale for the 4th annual California Music and Arts Festival will be none other than, Matisyahu!

With nearly fifty bands performing over the three-day music event, be sure to purchase your tickets now! Three-day passes and single day tickets are still available, but remember this event will sell-out! Purchase tickets HERE!
