Closer to the Sun Announces 2024 Lineup

Closer to the Sun, the four day, all-inclusive destination festival brought to you by Slightly Stoopid every year in Riviera Maya, Mexico has announced its star-studded lineup for 2024. Featuring an assortment of Cali Reggae mainstays on the bill, CTTS has become a Mecca for Stoopid-heads and superfans of the scene.

Lured by the promise of a premium, intimate extended live music experience, the yearly tradition for many festival-goers typically sells out same day. There’s an entire black market demand for the coveted presale code doled out to returning guests only, which allows ticket purchases 24 hours before the public.

The festival marks ten years in 2024, and as co-founder Matt Phillips of Silverback Music tells The Pier:

“The evolution over the 10 years has been truly incredible. When we (Slightly Stoopid, Cloud 9 and Silverback) first put this event together I don’t think we imagined how life changing of an experience this would be for fans, and bands alike. For year 10 we’re excited to bring together some favorites, some first timers and some legends together in a unique setting.”

Closer to the Sun is one of the only live music events where you can be IN the water while you listen to the music. Many are on the sand, close to the beach or a body of water, but only CTTS provides the full dayclub vibe, with sets beginning as early as noon and going well into the wee hours.

Phillips continues, “Closer is truly the most special event that I have ever been a part of. The vibe, the energy, the intimacy of being in paradise with your best friends, favorite artists and all being together in one resort (2 this year) is an experience that is unmatched.”

This year organizers have added a second resort to the package, Barcelo Maya Beach, both to manage the influx of guests as well as provide a change of scenery for returning fans. Festivities will still be held at the Hard Rock, as it has always been, and a shuttle will be available for the short ten minute ferry between hotels. Phillips hints at some CTTS Easter eggs to look out for.

“We plan on a few surprises in taking the event over the top this year to celebrate 10 years with everyone this December in Mexico”
