Codefendants Announce “Lonely Life” Ahead of LIFERS — Jakob Nowell of Sublime Stars in Upcoming Video

The Crimewave is about to hit again.

Codefendants have announced “Lonely Life,” the second single from their upcoming sophomore album LIFERS, due April 3. The track arrives as the trio — Fat Mike, Julio “Ceschi” Ramos, and Sam King — continue building momentum off their genre-blurring fusion of punk, hip hop, and alternative chaos.

“Lonely Life” is described by the band as one of the most collaborative songs on the record. Fat Mike calls it “a roller coaster ride with no seat belt or safety bars,” while Ceschi frames the lyrics as a meditation on modern alienation — the suffocating loneliness that can exist even in a hyperconnected world of social media spectacle and commodified identity.

The upcoming music video adds another layer: it stars Jakob Nowell, bringing Sublime’s next-generation frontman into the Crimewave universe. The visual reflects the emotional dislocation at the heart of the song, pairing high-energy performance with a storyline rooted in isolation and internal struggle.

“Lonely Life” follows the recently released “Rivals,” which featured hip-hop legend The D.O.C. — known for his work with N.W.A., Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. That collaboration marked the second time Codefendants linked with The D.O.C., further cementing the band’s refusal to respect genre boundaries.

Formed by Fat Mike (NOFX), Ceschi, and Sam King (Get Dead), Codefendants have built a reputation as punk’s most volatile hybrid — sharp lyricism, dark humor, and street-level storytelling detonated over distorted guitars and hip-hop rhythms. After touring with NOFX on their farewell run and playing major markets across the UK, Europe, and Australia, the trio are heading into 2026 with a packed schedule that includes supporting Sublime at major festivals, appearances at Punk in the Park, Louder Than Life, Warped Tour dates, and a Red Rocks performance with Sublime.

With LIFERS landing April 3 and “Lonely Life” poised to impact Alternative radio, Codefendants aren’t softening their edges — they’re sharpening them.

Crimewave season continues.
