Codefendants Drop “Lonely Life” Video Featuring Jakob Nowell Ahead of LIFERS

Codefendants have released the official music video for “Lonely Life,” the second single from their upcoming sophomore album LIFERS, out April 3. The trio of Fat Mike, Julio “Ceschi” Ramos, and Sam King continue to blur the lines between punk, hip hop, and alternative rock, delivering one of their most emotionally direct songs to date.

The video stars Jakob Nowell and leans into the track’s central theme of isolation. Set against a backdrop that shifts between performance intensity and quiet detachment, the visual mirrors the song’s tension. It captures the feeling of being surrounded by noise, connection, and spectacle while still feeling profoundly alone.

Fat Mike has called “Lonely Life” his favorite song on the record, describing it as a roller coaster ride with no seat belt or safety bars. The track swings between melodic vulnerability and explosive urgency, anchored by sharp lyricism and restless energy. It is chaotic but controlled, reflective but aggressive.

Ceschi frames the song as a commentary on modern alienation. In a world oversaturated with social media, celebrity culture, and nonstop information, he suggests that identity becomes performance and humanity becomes product. The more amplified the spectacle becomes, the more disconnected we feel from ourselves. That tension fuels the emotional core of the song.

The release follows “Rivals,” the band’s recent collaboration with The D.O.C., known for his work with N.W.A., Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. The partnership marked the second time Codefendants teamed up with the hip hop legend, reinforcing their refusal to stay confined to any single scene or genre.

Formed by Fat Mike of NOFX alongside Ceschi and Sam King of Get Dead, Codefendants have carved out a lane they call Crimewave. It is raw, confrontational, and self aware, pulling from Bay Area punk roots and underground rap realism. Their debut album introduced the formula. LIFERS, fully produced by Fat Mike, looks to sharpen it.

With festival appearances, Sublime support dates, and major tour stops lined up through 2026, Codefendants are not slowing down. If “Lonely Life” is any indication, the new record will push further into uncomfortable territory.
