Easy Star All-Stars, Jo Mersa Marley Headline Island Roots Festival

Camping, food trucks, hula, plenty of beverages to quench your thirst and an epic lineup of live music – what’s not to love? Expect this and more at the Island Roots & Culture Festival to be held in San Antonio, TX from September 29 – October 1 at the Roszell Gardens Wedding and Events Center! The festival is stacked with a pretty legit lineup including Easy Star All-Stars, Jo Mersa Marley, Sammy J, Anuhea, 77 Jefferson, Iya Terra and more!

Island Roots & Culture Festival has been a work in progress for nearly four years. The two-day camping festival held in San Antonio will feature two stages and is sponsored by Episode Phive and Texas Wildfire. Music will start early and go late each night, and for those looking to keep the party going, after parties will be held each night by various DJ’s including The Widdler, Phamstar, Brukout! and Smoke Sesh crew.

The rain or shine event has stated that the premise behind the event was originally centered around Pacific Island Reggae. And while this can certainly be expected at the festival, the lineup has expanded substantially to also pay homage to Island Reggae in general. The lineup above will feature artists from all over the world, with several from Jamaica, New Zealand and Hawaii. It was also stated that “unity was the main idea when Island Roots & Culture Festival was conceived, and that it was born out of love and respect for culture and music.”
