For this year’s, not quite, one-day-only celebration of marijuana culture, Gan Jah Records will host a reggae party in Springfield, MO at The Outland Theater. Former guitarist for Bob Marley & The Wailers Junior Marvin will headline with the Josh Heinrichs Band, while SkillinJah, 77 Jefferson, and Lance Sitton & The Seed will also make appearances.
Junior Marvin was featured on Time Magazine’s Album of The Century; jammin’ guitar for Bob Marley & The Wailers during the tumultuous release of Exodus. Now Heinrich’s is excited for their reunion, “[Junior] and I jammed back in the Jah Roots era. I’m more than ready to jam with him again.”
Josh is not the only one excited for this 4/20 reggae show. Lance Sitton & The Seed will be releasing Spread The Word just two days following. The album will feature Lance Sitton’s solo work, but with help of his band The Seed; Expect to hear a lot of dub rhythms. Sitton also mentioned that SkillinJah and Josh will make appearances on the record. Furthermore, 77 Jefferson is also putting’ the finishing touches on their new album, set to release through Gan Jah Records. With all this new music, 4/20 is already primed to be a bumpin’ show!
Overall, seems to be a hectic spring for Gan Jah records. They will be releasing Lance Sitton & The Seed’s Spread The Word on April 22 and 77 Jefferson’s Truth & Love on May 6. Josh has announced the composition of Josh Heinrichs & Friends #2, already announcing an appearance from Ashes Of Babylon.
Lastly, Heinrichs will make his way to the west coast this summer for a leg of his tour. On the way, he plans to perform at a few festivals and will even stop by the infamous Moboogie Loft in Denver, CO at some point!
