Iration and Maoli Honor Hawaii With New Song ‘Roots’

Iration has returned with a powerful new song called “Roots,” featuring singer Maoli.

The collaborators share a connection to Hawaii, where both of them were born and bred. Iration’s members famously relocated to California before breaking out, but their deep link to the islands remain – a theme which comes across on “Roots.”

“Just a young kid, from a place nobody’s heard of / Out in the country, where you get what you deserve / And it’s a long road, when you grow up in the Valley of the Kings / Chasing California dreams… / Them roots, yeah they grow a long way down”

With bass-heavy rhythms and soulful melodies, “Roots” strikes a powerful emotional balance. In a press release announcing the single, Iration singer and guitarist Micah Pueschel explained how the track came together.

“We’ve been exploring different sounds for as long as we’ve been a band. We’ve tried many styles but we always love coming back to our roots,” the frontman noted. “We grew up in the islands and the music, memories and culture have kept us grounded through our career. We tried to channel that with ‘Roots.’ We wanted to feature a Hawaiian artist and were lucky to be able to get Maoli on the song. He is a rising star and one of the great voices in reggae and country music and he absolutely crushed it.”
