Rising Jamaican reggae artist Jah Lil has joined Protoje’s Feel It Riddim project with his new single, “2nd Time Around,” released via Ineffable Records.
The collaboration brings another voice into a growing collection of recordings featuring some of the most recognizable names in contemporary Jamaican reggae. Previous contributions to the riddim include releases from Lila Iké, Romain Virgo, Mortimer, and Alaine, each bringing their own vocal and songwriting approach to the project.
Jah Lil has been developing a reputation for combining traditional reggae influences with contemporary production and melodic songwriting. His work emphasizes emotional delivery and meaningful lyricism, characteristics that have made him an emerging voice within Jamaica’s evolving musical landscape.
The Feel It Riddim project also highlights an important tradition in Jamaican music.
Unlike conventional albums built around entirely different instrumentals, a riddim project allows multiple artists to interpret the same underlying musical composition. This approach has been fundamental to reggae and dancehall for decades, creating opportunities for singers and deejays to demonstrate how their individual styles can reshape a shared musical foundation.
Protoje has played an important role in the international growth of modern Jamaican reggae, helping introduce new generations of listeners to music rooted in reggae traditions while remaining open to contemporary influences. His involvement makes the Feel It Riddim an especially compelling platform for emerging artists.
By joining a lineup that includes Lila Iké, Romain Virgo, Mortimer, and Alaine, Jah Lil places his music alongside performers with distinct musical identities and audiences.
“2nd Time Around” adds another perspective to that collection, further highlighting the depth of talent within Jamaica’s current reggae scene.
