Grammy-nominated singer Matisyahu will return with his eighth studio album, Ancient Child, due out October 3.
The 12-song collection finds Matisyahu blurring the lines between reggae, rock and hip-hop. A press release announcing the relrase noted that Ancient Child “investigates questions about history, identity, and destiny from the humility of a child through the wisdom of the generations’ past.”
“[Matisyahu] writes from his experiences about hopes, challenges, and fears, and is only interested in what sonically moves the emotion.”
The album announcement comes along with a new single, “Son Come Up.” The track features Matisyahu’s eldest son Laivy, and boasts an impressive fusion of hip-hop and afrobeat rhythms. Lyrically, Matisyahu “draws from deep personal and spiritual wells, reflecting on fatherhood, legacy, and the quiet prayer that our sons and daughters surpass us – not just in success, but in wisdom, purpose, and peace.”

To support the new album, Matisyahu’s will head out on his Ancient Child Tour beginning October 11 in Buffalo, NY. Before then, he’s scheduled to perform at Reggae Rise Up Las Vegas, taking place October 4.
