Mojo Morgan, founding member of Morgan Heritage, has released a new single called “Mountain Song.” The track is dedicated to Morgan’s brother and bandmate Peetah, who died in 2024.
The track channels the storytelling, acoustic textures and a grounded spirit of music that speaks to both heart and land. After the loss of Peetah, the song took on a deeper meaning and became a visual homage to their roots in the hills of St. Thomas, Jamaica, while the mountains symbolize resilience, legacy, and the quiet strength passed down through generations. “Mountain Song” blends acoustic soul, country, gospel harmonies, and reggae roots into a crossover anthem that pays tribute to family, heritage and home while staying grounded in authentic Jamaican spirit. Mojo’s brother Gramps and son Esh also contributed to the tune.
“Tears were flowing, that’s for sure,” Mojo explained in an interview discussing the loss of his brother. “I think it hit me when I got home with my children. When I got home with my children and I could see the fear of God in their eyes, I realized how much I loved my brother… It’s the disbelief that I’m not gonna hear him say ‘Bother Mo!’ before I do my rap in ‘Liberation’ (ever again).”
Mojo was able to channel some of his grief into Jamaica Love, his new EP which marks his first body of work since the death of Peetah. The nine-song release is available now and features further collaborations, including Popcaan, Sizzla, Maino and Chronic Law.
“Jamaica Love is more than music, it’s a message,” Mojo explained via press release. “It’s legacy, healing, and the soundtrack for anyone who’s ever had to fight for their dream.”
