“The Change I’m Seeking” Background:
“Barbershop” is track 4 off Mike Love’s latest 13 track album The Change I’m Seeking.

Here’s what Mike Love had to say in regards to the song:
“Barbershop is a tune I wrote many years ago. It just kinda popped into my head one night on my way home from a gig. Over the years it has evolved as we’ve played it live. The whole ending with all the stops and everything came out of just messing around with it live. It’s been a favorite of fans for a while, so when it came time to pick songs for my album, it was an obvious choice. I like that it has a conscious, serious message, but its also lighthearted and playful. Give it a listen, I hope you enjoy it!”

The album, The Change I’m Seeking, was released in December 2012 and certainly reflects his various abilities. Peaceful harmonies abound and accompany his unique collaborations; the album weaves through everything from reggae to R&B sounds and he beautifully uses a wide range of instrumentation. It’s deeply passionate, and Mr. Love’s message of advocacy rings clear.

“On his new album, ‘The Change I’m Seeking,’ that talent is obvious in his captivating songwriting and soulful performances. I’m thankful that he is sharing these beautiful songs with all of us.”
– Jack Johnson
