Three Legged Fox’s “Get Us Home” Background:
Get Us Home is Three Legged Fox’s first album since 2014’s We Are Electric and after years in the making, following 4 studio albums, the group explains to The Pier how the 2009 release of their record Not As Far became their influence with Watch The World: “To a large degree we were trying to build an updated version of ‘Not as Far.’ That was a conscious effort throughout. We tend to alternate between raw sounding albums, and slicker sounding albums. So this time we knew we wanted to put some energy into production, whether it was digital percussion, or synth loops or whatever. But it was also very important to us to still sound like a band. We also wanted to re-institute that celebratory message. After some dark albums, we knew it was time to dance a little bit. I think there are many parallels between this record and Not as Far, and that was no accident.”
The band goes on to explain how the album was exactly sixteen months in the making as the project began back in 2015 at Soundmine Studios in the Pennsylvanian mountains, once again working with producer and engineer Dan Kalsch. As for the theme of Watch the World, drummer Kory Kochersperger notes “After putting out some darker albums it was important to us to make a big sounding album that felt like a celebration of life. These are strange and chaotic times, but there’s a romance in living through that, and we wanted to make something you can dance and sing to.”
The Pier’s own Brian Glaser, who upon listening to the record, requested that we feature “Get Us Home” as our Leak of the Week which is track 8 of 10 on the new record. The band explains how the inspiration behind the track, stating: “Sometimes when we write we’ll say ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if we had a song like ‘X’?’ And for this we were thinking about some of the older U2 tracks. Often time we already have lyrics done and it becomes a mix and match with what kind of music belongs with a certain lyrical message. I think we knew we wanted an arena style anthem. We’ll never play arenas but it’s still fun to produce a track that has that kind of big, crowd-jumping sound.”
Additionally, 3LF finds a home in their wheelhouse on the track as Kochersperger continues: “We’re not an intricate rock band, and we’re not a true reggae band, we’re not a super poppy band, and we’re not a grungy garage band…just a little bit of all of those.”

Three Legged Fox is a five-piece, alt-pop-rock band from Philadelphia, PA. Members Kyle Wareham (Lead Singer/Guitar), John Duxbury (Keys), Mark Carson (Bass), Kory Kochersperger (Drums) and Chris Duddy (Guitar) formed the band in 2006. The band has toured with the likes of Mike Pinto, Natty Vibes, Fear Nuttin Band, and have graced the stage at many events & festivals including Cali Roots Festival. “Watch The World,” marks Three Legged Fox’s fifth studio release. The album was recorded at Soundmine Studios and produced by Dan Malsch.
