Virginia’s own RDGLDGRN have teamed up with Brooklyn-via-Vermont emcee Jarv to unleash their latest single, “Sugarcane,” a track ripping across the borders of reggae-rock and hip-hop with confident swagger and melodic punch. Released via Ineffable Records, the song is the fourth single from RDGLDGRN’s forthcoming album, continuing a career marked by fearless collaborations and boundary-blurring sound.
“Sugarcane” arrives at a moment when RDGLDGRN seem fully comfortable at the crossroads of rock, rap and reggae. The pairing with Jarv allows the band to lean deeper into hip-hop grit while retaining the melodic, guitar-driven foundation they’ve built across previous records. With reggae flourishes and groove-laden cadence, the single stakes a claim in multiple camps at once.
RDGLDGRN’s credentials are far from incidental. The band recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios with Dave Grohl, who played drums on their early work. Behind the scenes, they have also worked with Pharrell Williams, who made a co-writing and cameo appearance on tracks like “Doing The Most.” Furthermore, their track “Stay With Me” (featuring Little Stranger) was selected for the soundtrack of Madden NFL 26 — placing the band in the cultural mix of sport, gaming and music.
With “Sugarcane” as the fourth single, the upcoming album from RDGLDGRN appears poised to deliver on the promise of their genre-hopping past while leaning into new, hybrid territories. If their earlier work gave glimpses of rock-rap and reggae-inflected grooves, this record may well bring everything together in one bold statement.
