Where else can you float and sway to jams from Steel Pulse, Ky-Mani Marley and boatloads of up-and-coming groups Selekta Lou, Alex Marley, Elements of Soul, and many more, while watching the beautiful California sun dissolve behind the landscape of earthy smelling Sequoias?
Give up? The Reggae in the Hills Festival, of course!
The Festival will take place from June 7-9 in the Calavera County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp, California. the festival includes three days of camping, and three nights of non-stop music. Whether you’re new to the Reggae scene, or a seasoned vet, be sure to catch legendary reggae group Steel Pulse, whose powerful songs of protest, political injustice, and the soul, are bound to inspire any listener to reflect on the world around us.
Other notable acts to watch include dancehall great Capleton, who will surely mesmerize your mind with “That Day Will Come”, a reflective jam on gun and drug violence in an increasingly small world. Other mainstays within the Reggae-Rock community that will be performing at Reggae in the Hills consist of Natural Vibrations from Hawai’i, Marlon Asher, as well as Southern California’s Fortunate Youth and The Expanders.
Along with exceptional music, there will be a smorgasbord of treats to taste; healthy alternatives including lots of vegetables, curries, and island style food, along with traditional festival fare (corn dogs and cotton candy). Replenish your body and soul, in between skipping from stage to stage to catch your favorite artists.
The festival includes, a large, on-site camping area and full service restrooms. Make sure you give a little love to the talented Rock Medics who will be sure to have all of your festival boo boos clean and stitched up, so you can be ready to rock all three days.
