New Jersey may not be known for an abundance of reggae festivals, but every so often, we are fortunate to experience some small and unique gatherings. This past weekend, the inaugural Lion Heart Music Festival graced the picturesque Paradise Lake Campground waterfront, organized by local Jersey band, Rootsettaz.

As one of two festivals Lion Heart will host this summer, the lineup boasted performances by Cultivated Mind, Space Kamp, Mykal Rose, Mighty Mystic, and the legendary 10 Foot Ganja Plant, who kept the music going until nearly 2 AM. The next Lion Heart Festival is set for this August in Pennsylvania, featuring the king of hip shaking, Joe Samba.
However, the standout performance of the festival came from Jersey’s own SensaMotion. Despite being in the scene for fifteen years, the band is finally gaining the recognition they deserve, enjoying a quick rise in the first half of 2024. From being the exclusive opener for Stick Figure’s January headline shows to recording their first Sugarshack Session this past March, SensaMotion is ready to make a significant impact. The Pier had the opportunity to chat with the band about their successful year and their upcoming tour with Algorhythm and SOJA this summer.
Stay up to date with SensaMotion by following them on social media @sensamotion. Additionally, if you’re in the Northeast area, don’t miss the next Lion Heart Music Festival on August 17-18 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
