Slightly Stoopid’s Closer to the Sun Festival Returns to Riviera Maya in January 2027

Slightly Stoopid are officially bringing their signature destination festival back, announcing the return of Closer to the Sun for January 9–13, 2027 in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Now heading into its 12th installment, Closer to the Sun has become one of the most beloved destination festivals in the reggae and alternative scene, blending beachfront performances, late-night sets, and a tight-knit community atmosphere that keeps fans coming back year after year.

While the full 2027 lineup has yet to be revealed, past editions have featured a stacked mix of artists from across the reggae, rock, and jam worlds, alongside multiple sets from Slightly Stoopid themselves. The festival’s format typically includes curated collaborations, special guest appearances, and unique one-off performances that you won’t catch anywhere else.

In a message to fans, the band confirmed the dates and encouraged early sign-ups for pre-sale access, with booking details and lineup announcements expected in the coming months.

Returning attendees, known as “Closer Fam”, will automatically receive pre-sale access, while first-timers can opt in now to secure early booking opportunities before the general public.

Set against the beaches of Mexico’s Caribbean coast, Closer to the Sun has built its reputation not just as a festival, but as a full experience, combining music, travel, and community into a multi-day escape.

With 2026 continuing to be a massive year for Slightly Stoopid on the road, the announcement of Closer to the Sun 2027 signals that the band’s flagship event remains a cornerstone of the scene — and one of the most anticipated annual gatherings in reggae-rock.

More details, including lineup and on-sale dates, are expected soon.
