Slightly Stoopid’s ‘Sounds of Summer’ 2017 Tour

Ocean Beach, CA natives Slightly Stoopid further cement themselves into their own legacy within reggae-rock with each passing year. In just a few short weeks, they will be embarking on their 11th annual summer tour across a selection of amphitheaters and pavilion stages. This isn’t just another tour however, as they will be bringing along Iration, J Boog and The Movement for “The Sounds of Summer 2017.”

It comes as no surprise at this point in their musical career that Slightly Stoopid is a household name. For over two decades, they have been curating chart-topping albums and providing memorable live performances with every show. Co-founders Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald remain at the helm alongside Rymo, OG, Dela, Paul, Andy and Karl Denson and sound as good as ever -– their latest release Meanwhile…Back at the Lab peaked at No. 37 on the US Billboard 200 upon its release in 2015, as well as No. 3 overall on the US Independent Albums Chart when dropped via Stoopid Records. With no signs of slowing down and to the delight of fans across the nation, Slightly Stoopid recently announced they will be performing 27 new shows across 19 states for their Sounds of Summer Tour.

Miles Doughty recently shared his overall excitement for the upcoming tour as well:
“It’s gonna be a summer of madness when we the hit the road with our boys Iration, J Boog, and The Movement for the Sounds of Summer 2017 tour. Smokestacks and sunshine while spending the summer jamming, BBQ-ing, and hanging with friends. Doesn’t get much better than that!”

Iration will also be hotting up the stage all summer and are continuing the support of their latest record Double Up, an acoustic album released in December 2016 comprised of various songs in their catalog. Iration has also been touring throughout 2017 and recently appeared once more on Callaway Golf’s “Callaway Live” for a special live performance. Front-man Micah Pueschel elaborated on the album and stated that “We took songs from our whole catalog of music and stripped them back and gave them an alternate life. We thought about a wave doubling up and the fact that it’s another version of the same entity. That’s what Double Up is, another version of these songs.”

Much to the delight of their fans, Iration has confirmed that they are also in the studio working on new music –- the band just released their latest single “Fly With Me” which can be heard below. The track first leaked as a teaser in late February, and was recently introduced to their fans in a live setting as they performed the song at The North Park Observatory in San Diego earlier this month. Iration offered up that “Fly With Me” was inspired by the cosmos and the vastness of space and imagination.

Joining Slightly Stoopid and Iration will be the Compton-based, Samoan J Boog, who has been gracing stages with his presence for years while offering his unique reggae-world style and fusion of R&B, hip-hop and soul music. J Boog also continues to promote his latest release and third full-length album Wash House Ting released in November 2016 with 14 tracks featuring Buju Banton, Gramps Morgan (Morgan Heritage), Chaka Demus and several other guest collaborations.

Also setting sail on the Sounds of Summer Tour will be The Movement, bringing their multifaceted infusion of various genres complimenting their overarching reggae sound. The band is also celebrating a recent release with the album Golden receiving well-deserved accolades from critics and fans alike. The record hit #1 on the 2016 iTunes and Billboard Reggae Charts. The Movement also announced that a new album is in the works –- be sure to check back soon for additional details and an ear out for new material being performed live.
