South Swell Syndicate has delivered one of the year’s most hypnotic tracks with the fresh and captivating tune “Colitas”.
The song rides along a mid-tempo beat, with percussion, keyboards and some enticing guitar parts beckoning listeners to lean in. Lyrically, the track bubbles with sensual overtones, with lines like: “Her body moves just like the ocean / Triggering a sexual emotion”
Frontman Mick Attardo delivers engaging vocals throughout the piece, declaring in the chorus: “You are my colitas / But said to keep it between us / Don’t let nobody know / She keeps it confidential”
The Spanish term “colitas” is often used to describe marijuana – an influence that is certainly felt in the track’s hazy vibe (not to mention the single’s artwork). It’s easy to get lost in the intoxicating allure of “Colitas,” and the song’s catchiness has us excited for South Swell Syndicate’s full length debut in 2026.

Formed in 2024, South Swell Syndicate is Attardo’s passion project. The Long Beach native has been working with producer Lewis Richards (Dirty Heads, Micah Brown) along with an impressive list of musicians that includes members of Tribal Seeds, Long Beach Dub Allstars and Rebelution.
Blending elements of rock, reggae, acoustic, hip-hop and ska, South Swell Syndicate has crafted a genre-bending style that reflects the Southern California melting pot where it was created. Attardo has been slow-releasing singles over the past few months, with “Jimi” and “All About the Music” among our other faves. Look for further big things from this project in the new year.
