Stick Figure have returned with “Meet Me By The Ocean,” a new single released August 21 as Scott Woodruff begins opening the door to the next chapter of one of modern reggae’s most recognizable projects.
The track arrives at an interesting point in the Stick Figure timeline. Rather than spending 2026 on another extensive summer tour, Woodruff and the band have largely stepped away from the usual road schedule to concentrate on new music. When Stick Figure announced their massive Enjoy The Ride Summer Tour for 2027, Woodruff explained that the year would be devoted to creating music, finishing a new album and developing an entirely new live show.
The new song also returns Stick Figure to imagery that has been woven throughout Woodruff’s catalog for years. Water, coastlines, distance and escape have repeatedly appeared in songs like “Edge of the Ocean,” “Sound of the Sea” and “Paradise.” Stick Figure records are rooted in reggae and dub, but the project has gradually developed its own production language around deep bass, spacious arrangements, melodic guitar lines, atmospheric effects and Woodruff’s understated vocals. The studio recordings remain largely the work of Woodruff himself, even as Stick Figure has developed into a formidable full-band operation onstage.
The approach has helped Stick Figure become one of the most significant independent acts in American reggae. Rather than chasing dramatic reinventions between albums, Woodruff has generally expanded the project incrementally, refining a sound that listeners can identify almost immediately.
Recent releases have shown different sides of that process. Late 2025 brought Free Flow Sessions, a collection centered more heavily on instrumental exploration and the dub-minded side of Woodruff’s studio work. An acoustic version of “Fight the Feeling” followed in early 2026. Stick Figure’s official site now places “Meet Me by the Ocean” at the top of its latest news alongside those recent releases and the band’s upcoming touring plans.
Stick Figure have already confirmed that a new album is being completed, although the band has not yet announced its title or release date. That leaves “Meet Me By The Ocean” as an early look at a body of work that is still taking shape publicly.
By next summer, the quiet studio period will give way to one of Stick Figure’s largest tours yet. The Enjoy The Ride Summer Tour begins June 3, 2027 at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix before moving through major outdoor venues across the country. Stops include Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Colorado, Xfinity Center in Massachusetts, Jones Beach in New York, Jiffy Lube Live in Virginia, North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in San Diego and The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington.
