Sublime proved they’re still kings of Long Beach, CA with a triumphant performance at Warped Tour on Saturday (July 26).
The group was welcomed to the stage by Rex Richardson, Mayor of Long Beach. The official declared there was no band “more qualified to represent the LBC,” his words echoing the lyrics to Sublime’s classic hit “Doin’ Time”.
From there, Sublime took the stage to a hero’s welcome and proceeded to rock through material from throughout their legendary career.
The band opened with “Garden Grove,” the 1996 track inspired by the small town just 18 miles from where Warped Tour was being held. “What I Got” generated the biggest crowd participation of the day, with thousands of fans clapping and singing along. Meanwhile, Sublime’s new single “Ensenada” fit seamlessly among their classic tunes, it’s upbeat sound and sun soaked vibe resonating washing over the audience.
The massive crowd was hanging on every note during the set, with bodies flying all over the place. Mosh pits and crowd surfers were all around as the fans engrossed themselves in Sublime’s signature sound. Other highlights included “Same in the End” (with a guest appearance by Pennywise), “Caress Me Down,” “Wrong Way,” “Badfish” and “Santeria”. Full set list can be found below.
Sublime’s busy summer will continue with a three day takeover event in Sin City. Fear, Loathing and Sublime in Las Vegas will see the group hosting two nights of concerts at Park MGM’s Dolby Live, with Pennywise, The Vandals and The Ataris among the other performers.
