SunDub, the Brooklyn-based five piece known for mixing classic reggae with elements of blues, funk and soul, return with a new single, “Jump and Dance” featuring Lutan Fyah. The Pier is excited to premiere the track, which is perfect for your remaining summer BBQs, swim sessions, and backyard socials.
The band broke onto the scene in 2019 with their impressive debut album Burden of Love, which showcased the talented quintet of Finn Singer (guitar), Josh T Carter (bass), Eric “The General” Toussaint (vocals-keys) and the brother-sister team of Joanna Teters (lead vocals) and Ben Teters (vocals-drums). The album amassed a few million listens and celebrated SunDub’s arrival with their unique infectious style combined with conscious messages of inclusion, diversity and unity.
With the help of Jamaican vocalist Lutan Fyah, “Jump and Dance” will keep you smiling and moving with its danceable grooves and good vibes. The single is a strong introduction to SunDub’s lush sound and the next phase they are laying out with their new album. Ben expresses, “As long time fans of Lutan’s music, it is an honor to feature him in ‘Jump & Dance’ and to welcome him into the SunDub family. His vocal style is a perfect complement to Joanna – it really brought this track to the next level.”
The “Jump & Dance” single was recorded at Lydgate Sound on a remote cacao farm in Kauai, Hawaii in 2021 with surroundings of lush nature and sunshine that offered inspiration on what Joanna says, “…can only come from being disconnected to our everyday lives and distractions.”
If “Jump & Dance” is the first taste of what’s to come, then we can’t wait to hear what SunDub’s new album has in store. This is a band on the rise whose music has us hitting repeat.
