Surfer Girl have returned with their latest single, “Eavesdrop,” the next preview of the band’s forthcoming album Midnight, arriving August 21 via Ineffable Records.
The Los Angeles by way of Boston indie alt-pop and reggae-rock outfit, fronted by former Aer vocalist Carter Reeves Schultz, continue to build momentum with a sound that blends coastal grooves, pop melody and laid-back reggae influence. “Eavesdrop” follows the band’s recent run of new music as Surfer Girl move toward the release of Midnight, their next full-length project.
The new single continues to sharpen the world Surfer Girl have been building across their recent releases. Warm, melodic and easy to sink into, “Eavesdrop” leans into the project’s signature balance of feel-good energy and emotionally direct songwriting. It is the kind of track that feels tailor-made for summer, carrying the breezy confidence that has made Surfer Girl a steady presence in the modern reggae-rock and alt-pop space.
Midnight follows Surfer Girl’s 2025 album Sunset, which featured collaborations with Collie Buddz, Bryce Vine, Bobby Alu and more. That album helped push the project further into the space between reggae-rock, indie pop, hip-hop-adjacent rhythms and sun-soaked alternative sounds, giving Schultz and the band a wide-open lane to keep evolving.
Surfer Girl have also been bringing that energy to the road. After recently wrapping up a headlining tour, the band is already back out playing shows before joining The Movement and Pepper this August. With a new album on the way and a growing run of singles leading into it, “Eavesdrop” arrives as another strong piece of the Midnight rollout.
Listen to “Eavesdrop” now and stay tuned for Midnight, out August 21 via Ineffable Records.
