Toots and The Maytals, inspiration for Sublime and countless other artist, have a very special project to unleash July 2nd. The band will release a new live album, Unplugged on Strawberry Hill and the much anticipated DVD documentary Reggae Got Soul.
In a recently recorded personal message, Bill Cosby said, “There is a man who has a band, and I just love him, I love his music, I love his feel…” That statement really speaks 
for anyone who has listened to Toots and The Maytals over the years. The band has a discography, that spans decades, influencing modern twentieth century music.
The dual release draws from this history, featuring hits from multiple records throughout the past. The album, Toots and The Maytals – Unplugged on Strawberry Hill includes twelve iconic tracks, recorded in Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, during a live acoustic performance.
The documentary, Reggae Got Soul contains 18 tracks, the footage of that same Strawberry Hill performance, and also five tracks from the band’s famous 1982 Rockpalast concert.
Reggae Got Soul first premiering February 18th, on BBC, will now be available all over the world. The documentary tells the never-before-told story from a true legend of the genre, one of Jamaica’s most influential artists, and features rare archival footage all through his career.
The film also includes intimate acoustic performances and interviews with Toots, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy Cliff, Marcia Griffiths, Ziggy Marley and many more band members and family.
For this project, Toots and The Maytals teamed up with PledgeMusic to help distribute the career spanning documentary and new live album. Through their campaign, from every transaction one euro will be donated to the Toots Foundation, to benefit underprivileged children in Jamaica and throughout the world!
As part of this project, eleven various packages are available to order. There’s the double disc package, which includes the new album on CD plus the film on DVD. Other packages available are limited numbers of signed CDs, DVD, vinyl and signed artwork prints! Every purchase comes with the album as a digital download, along with access to video diaries, blogs, photos and snippets from the documentary, giving fans real insight into the project and the creation of the project.
