Their are plenty of “good guys” in the music industry, particularly in the reggae community, but some stand head and shoulders above others. Karim Israel of Arise Roots fits perfectly into that description, and was kind enough to sit down with us to discuss his efforts in the community, the band’s new singles and upcoming headline tour, and what they learned from last summer’s tour with Tribal Seeds.
In our exclusive interview, set to publish on Tuesday, June 27th, 2016, we cover the band’s formative years, what separates the Los Angeles reggae scene from the rest of the Golden State, and whether or not we can expect a new album in the coming months. Karim also shares whether it is more natural for him to write songs about love or war.
“You can talk about war and struggle forever and never run out of material because the world is tough. It’s beautiful, but there’s a lot of issues that are rough. Human conflict never stops, and internal conflict never stops…That’s what roots music is!”
It’s hard to even contain all the wisdom and excitement that Karim has to offer, so after we release the upcoming interview, we’ll be sitting down with him once again to get even more insight. They have a brand new single out which features legendary reggae performer & artist, Capleton, on the track “Rootsman Town.”
From June 29th to July 28th, Arise Roots will embark on their first headlining tour with a west coast regional run of 19 dates among 9 different states with opening performances by Iya Terra and Ital Vibes.
