Zack Mufasa Fuses Reggae and Latin Vibes on New Single ‘Ride or Die’

Singer-songwriter Zack Mufasa has released a new single called “Ride or Die,” a captivating fusion of reggae and Latin vibes that’s sure to find its way on summer playlists across the globe.

“Ride or Die”‘s musical combination came to Mufasa organically. “I felt like this song kind of came out of the guitar the more I sat down with it,” he explains. “I had just got my first classical guitar as a gift from my Grandmother. When my Great Grandma passed and we sold her house, my Grandma told me her Mom said to her in a dream that I needed it – which always seemed really trippy and kind of spooky to me. The guitar has this really Spanish sound with the Cypress top, and as soon as I started playing it, I wanted to write something like this. It was like an itch I needed to scratch — and it felt so good!”

Following a 7 year hiatus, Mufasa has returned with a vengeance in 2025. “Ride or Die” – which you can listen to below – marks the singer’s second new song this year, following previous single “Sunshine.” His last EP, 2017’s Here and Now, featured material with frequent collaborators 77 Jefferson.

“I had just joined 77 Jefferson a couple years before that EP and finished college around the same time. I just really wanted to be in the studio working with anyone- and had shifted my focus away from my own stuff for a while,” Mufasa explains while looking back. “But, now, it’s my time!”

Mufasa’s busy year will continue with touring throughout the summer, including solo performances and shows alongside 77 Jefferson. The crew will play with Fortune Youth in Hawaii this July, one of the many upcoming highlights on their calendar.

Meanwhile, Mufasa has hinted that further new music is on the horizon. Revitalized and refocused on solo material, the talented singer-songwriter is ready to cement his place among reggae rock’s rising stars.
