Add another chapter to the ongoing drama surrounding reggae pop singer Michael Franti. Now the musician’s Do It for the Love foundation has canceled its annual Rocker’s Ball fundraiser.
The event had been scheduled for Nov. 20 at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. The annual night of music and philanthropy was intended to raise money for Do It for the Love. Founded in 2013 by Franti and his wife Sara, the organization brings special live concert experiences to people living with life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges and wounded veterans.
In a message shared by the San Francisco Chronicle, Executive Director Kate Stone said the foundation made “the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Rocker’s Ball” after “much thought and discussion.”
“By waiting, we can regroup and ensure that next year’s Rocker’s Ball will be as impactful, inspiring, and mission focused as ever,” she added. “We cannot wait for that moment to be here, but in the meantime, our work continues.”
The Rocker’s Ball cancellation marks the latest fallout following allegations of sexual misconduct against Franti.

Last month, singer Victoria Canal alleged via social media that she had been groomed and abused by an older musician when she was 19. Though she did not name Franti – who discovered and toured with Canal in the years noted — fans quickly pieced things together.
In response, Franti denied the allegations but admitted to what he described as a “consensual” extramarital affair.
Since Canal’s revelation, several other women have stepped foward to accuse Franti of similar sexual harassment. In the wake of these allegations, Franti canceled his 2025 tour and was let go by his longtime management.

Additionally, the Soulshine at Sea cruise – which Franti curated and was scheduled to headline – was canceled as other artists on the lineup looked to distance themselves from the scandal.
The cruise’s promoter, Sixthman, later replaced it with a new event, Live Loud Fest. It features several artists originally booked for Soulshine at Sea, including Hirie, Allen Stone, Maggie Rose, Bombargo and Ethan Tucker.
