Inner Circle – “Roll It Up, Blaze It Up” (Feat. Slightly Stoopid & Bizerk)

“Roll It Up, Blaze It Up” Background:

This past October ’12, Inner Circle released a new single, “Roll It Up, Blaze It Up,” featuring Slightly Stoopid, and up-and-coming rapper, Bizerk! After finding inspiration listening to Inner Circle’s early recording of “Mary Mary” with original lead-singer, Jacob Miller, the band is back, revisiting the piece.

Inner Circle first re-recorded “Mary Mary” in 2009, on their album, State Of Da World. The collaborative track was titled “Mary Collie Weed” and featured Slightly Stoopid. This time around, Inner Circle remixed “Mary Collie Weed,” layering on vocals by Bizerk.

Inner Circle Bio/Background:

If you are unfamiliar with Inner Circle, look no further than the television show COPS. The 1987 hit single, “Bad Boys”, which serves as Fox Network’s television show COPS theme song. The group was also originally called The Inner Circle Band, forming back in 1968. The band achieved major success in the 1970s with Jacob Miller as their lead singer, but ultimately split up after Miller’s death in 1980.

Inner Circle’s “Bad Boys” was reissued as a single in 1991 and charted in several countries in Europe, but it was its 1993 re-release in the US that achieved the greatest success. The 1992 album Bad to the Bone was picked up by Atlantic Records and reissued as Bad Boys to capitalize on the success of the single, which sold more than half a million copies in the US and more than four million worldwide.

The band received a Grammy Award in 1993 for ‘Best Reggae Album by Duo or Group’ for Bad Boys and the album also spawned the international hit single “Sweat (A La La La La Long)”, which was a # 3 hit in the UK Singles Chart and topped the chart in ten countries, selling over a million copies in Europe, while “Bad Boys” peaked at # 52.

But, rather than looking back to Inner Circle’s past greatness, let’s take a listen to the present artistry coming out of the Inner Circle studios. Check out the single, “Roll It Up, Blaze It Up,” for your listening pleasure by downloading it for FREE on the Homepage!
