Ripe have released Live at Brooklyn Paramount, a 22-track concert album that captures the Boston funk-pop group in the environment where their music has always felt most complete: onstage, surrounded by a crowd and free to stretch beyond the boundaries of a studio recording.
Released July 31 through Ineffable Records, the album documents Ripe’s December 19, 2025 performance at Brooklyn Paramount in New York. The complete concert is also being released in video form, preserving both the music and the physical energy of a show the band has described as one of its most memorable. The band’s catalog has been built around rhythm, movement and the relationship between the musicians and the people in front of them. Their songs combine funk, alternative pop, soul and jam-band flexibility, but the defining element is the way those pieces interact once the group steps onto a stage.
Live at Brooklyn Paramount presents that chemistry across a full 22-song performance. Rather than functioning only as a collection of familiar material, the album records how Ripe’s songs have evolved through repeated performance. Arrangements gain additional space, transitions become part of the narrative and the audience’s response becomes another component of the music.
The album was introduced through a series of advance releases, beginning with “Goon Squad,” featuring soul singer Allen Stone. The collaboration places Stone’s expressive delivery inside Ripe’s funk-driven live framework, turning the song into a genuine exchange between guest, band and crowd rather than a conventional feature added after the fact.
Ripe followed with live versions of “First Time Feeling” and “Caralee,” two songs that represent different stages of the group’s catalog. “First Time Feeling” originally arrived in 2020 and has grown into one of the band’s recognizable crowd records, while “Caralee” offers another example of how Ripe’s grooves expand when the musicians are given room to respond to one another in real time.
The release also provides a broad view of a catalog that has steadily widened without abandoning the band’s rhythmic foundation. Formed in Boston in 2011, Ripe established its sound with releases including the 2018 album Joy in the Wild Unknown. The band later incorporated a more polished pop approach on Bright Blues in 2023 before continuing that development through Play the Game in 2025 and its expanded deluxe edition in 2026.
Those studio albums reveal Ripe’s growth as songwriters and arrangers. Live at Brooklyn Paramount shows what happens when that material is returned to the communal setting that shaped the band in the first place. The performance is especially effective as a career-spanning document because Ripe have never treated the audience as a passive presence. That quality separates Live at Brooklyn Paramount from a traditional retrospective. The album does not simply revisit the band’s catalog. It captures songs in motion, shaped by years of touring and by the musicians’ ability to react in the moment.
Ripe are supporting the release with another run of summer performances, including headlining dates, outdoor concerts and festival appearances. Their current schedule continues through August and beyond, giving audiences another opportunity to experience the energy preserved on the new record.
