Twin Fin and Kat Hasty Give ‘Love Me Anyway’ a New Emotional Edge

Some songs reveal new possibilities after their initial release. For Twin Fin, “Love Me Anyway” has become one of those songs.

The Hawaii-born, California-based group has returned to the track with a new version featuring Texas singer-songwriter Kat Hasty. Released July 10, the collaboration revisits a fan favorite from Twin Fin’s debut project, Songs I Never Wrote, while adding a second voice that changes the emotional shape of the song.

Twin Fin’s sound has developed through an unusual but increasingly natural combination of influences. The band draws from alternative rock, country, pop and the surf culture surrounding its Hawaiian roots. Rather than separating those ingredients, Twin Fin allows them to overlap, creating music that can feel equally appropriate at a beach gathering, a country bar or an alternative-rock club.

“Love Me Anyway” sits comfortably at the center of that identity. Its title carries a simple but difficult request: accept the complicated, imperfect person standing in front of you. That idea already gave the original recording a direct emotional core. Bringing Kat Hasty into the song transforms the request into more of a conversation.

Hasty’s songwriting has often centered on vulnerability, damaged relationships and the less romantic corners of country life. Her presence gives “Love Me Anyway” an additional sense of weight, creating contrast with Twin Fin’s brighter, coastal energy. Instead of sounding like a guest added after the fact, she brings another perspective into the song.

The collaboration also demonstrates Twin Fin’s ability to move deeper into country music without losing its established personality. The band does not abandon the alternative and pop elements of its sound. Instead, Hasty’s contribution helps reveal how closely those influences can sit beside modern country songwriting.

That flexibility has already helped Twin Fin find an expanding audience. The group’s breakout track “California Sober” has surpassed four million streams, introducing listeners to a style the band has described through the fitting phrase “cowboy surf.” The seven-song Songs I Never Wrote EP further established that mixture of nostalgic melodies, approachable hooks and coastal imagery.

The new version of “Love Me Anyway” arrives just before Twin Fin launches the Kings of the Coast Tour. Although earlier promotional notes described the band as already being on the road, the current schedule begins July 14 in Chicago and continues through August, followed by additional October appearances.

For listeners discovering Twin Fin through “California Sober,” the collaboration with Kat Hasty offers a wider look at the band’s potential. For longtime fans, it provides a familiar song with a different emotional balance. In both cases, “Love Me Anyway” shows that revisiting a track can be worthwhile when the new version adds a genuine perspective rather than simply repeating what already worked.
