Serial Killers are back in full force with This Thing of Ours, the group’s fifth official release and one of their most cohesive projects to date.
Made up of West Coast heavyweights Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick, the trio has always leaned into sharp lyricism and chemistry built over years in the game. On This Thing of Ours, that foundation feels tighter than ever.
The album is produced entirely by Scoop Deville, whose resume spans generations of hip hop, with credits alongside Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Eminem, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, and Jeezy.
That single-producer approach gives the album a consistent sonic identity, blending classic West Coast grit with modern polish. The beats knock, but they leave room for each emcee to do what they do best.
Rather than chasing trends, This Thing of Ours feels grounded in experience. Xzibit brings that commanding presence that has defined his career, B-Real delivers his unmistakable tone and perspective, and Demrick continues to prove why he belongs in the conversation with both.
The project also taps into hip hop history with a feature from Chuck D, adding another layer of legacy to the mix, alongside contributions from Scoop Deville himself.
The release lands at a moment where all three members are active in their own lanes.
Xzibit recently returned with his first solo album in over a decade, featuring names like Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, and B-Real. B-Real has been back on stages worldwide with Cypress Hill, including a standout performance of Black Sunday backed by the London Symphony Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall. Meanwhile, Demrick continues to stay prolific, most recently dropping his solo project Ooowee featuring collaborations across the underground.
This Thing of Ours is a strong reminder that when veterans lock in with the right chemistry and vision, the result doesn’t just hold up. It stands out.
