Shwayze and O.A.R. Team Up on Uplifting Banger ‘Way Down’

Two reggae rock heavyweights have joined forces, as Shwayze and O.A.R. have teamed on the new song “Way Down.”

The late-summer single is high on energy and positive vibes, sure to keep the party going even as the sun fades away. O.A.R.’s verses echo themes of support and resilience, noting “I’ll still carry you home / We all got days when we just don’t wanna get up.”

Elsewhere, Shwayze delivers his distinctive flow, pondering the dream of escaping to an island “where your problems are a mile away.”

This is the fourth single off of Shwayze’s upcoming 2025 album, the follow-up to 2024’s Shwaycation, which included features from Wiz Khalifa, Bryce Vine, Kes, Common Kings, Ripe and more.

Over the last few years Shwayze has devoted a lot of his time to his acting career, landing recurring roles on the shows Abbot Elementary and Lincoln Lawyer. He recently wrapped up a headlining tour, as well as a run of shows with Iration, and is currently on a co-headlining tour with Tropidelic, which will be followed by a headlining tour in November.

O.A.R. — widely regarded as one of the most successful independent bands of all time — is coming up on 30 years of massive sold out shows (like Madison Square Garden) and multi-platinum selling releases. Last year they completed a 36 date headlining amphitheater tour, selling out in almost all cities. The band is also gearing up for the third annual Oceans Calling Music Festival, taking place in Maryland at the end of September. O.A.R. co-founded the event, and will perform as part of a lineup that also features Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Noah Kahan, Vampire Weekend and Ziggy Marley.
