Los Angeles by way of Boston outfit Surfer Girl return with their latest single “Slow Motion,” continuing to refine their blend of indie, alt-pop, and reggae-rock. Fronted by Carter Reeves Schultz, formerly of Aer, the band leans into their signature laid-back sound while keeping things polished and melodic.
“Slow Motion” lives up to its name, unfolding with an easygoing groove and sun-drenched atmosphere that feels built for long drives and late afternoons. The track balances mellow instrumentation with catchy vocal hooks, a combination that has become a defining part of Surfer Girl’s identity. There is a natural flow to the song, allowing the rhythm to breathe while still delivering a strong sense of structure.
The release follows the band’s 2025 album Sunset, a project that expanded their reach with features from Collie Buddz, Bryce Vine, and Bobby Alu, among others. That album helped solidify Surfer Girl’s place within the indie and reggae-adjacent space, and “Slow Motion” feels like a continuation of that momentum.
With “Slow Motion,” the Surfer Girl keeps things simple in the best way possible. It is a reminder that sometimes the strongest moments come from letting the music settle into its own pocket and ride it out.
