Wax links up once again with DJ Hoppa for “Acai,” a laid-back, sun-soaked single that leans into groove, storytelling, and understated chemistry.
The track serves as the fourth release from their upcoming collaborative album Highway Hotel, due out June 5 via Ineffable Records. If the earlier singles hinted at the project’s range, “Acai” locks into a more relaxed pocket, showcasing the duo’s ability to keep things light without losing depth.
Built around a mellow, head-nodding beat, the song gives Wax space to do what he does best. Conversational flows, vivid detail, and a delivery that feels effortless but intentional. DJ Hoppa’s production stays smooth and minimal, letting the track breathe while still carrying a warm, cohesive bounce.
Highway Hotel is shaping up to be one of the more dynamic independent hip hop releases of the summer. The project features a wide-ranging lineup including Watsky, Jarren Benton, Little Stranger, G. Love, ¡MAYDAY!, K.A.A.N., and Demrick, pointing to a record that pulls from multiple corners of the underground.
That versatility reflects the partnership itself. Wax brings a West Coast ease with roots that stretch back to Maryland, while Hoppa anchors the sound with a producer’s ear for balance and cohesion.
The release also follows a strong run on the road. Wax and DJ Hoppa wrapped a 27-date headlining tour across the US and Canada late last year, tightening their live chemistry and building momentum heading into this album cycle.
