Through the Roots Drop Breezy Summer Single ‘Just Cruise’

Through the Roots have returned with “Just Cruise,” a breezy, laid back tune overflowing with summer vibes.

In a press release announcing the new single, the band noted that the track “was born out of a writing session at drummer Calvin Canha’s studio in Kaimuki, HI, during a 2024 writing camp.”

“Just Cruise” reportedly came together quickly, with singer Evan Hawkins swiftly penning the lyrics. Produced by Canha alongside keyboard player Brady O’Rear, the song was inspired by the “laid back spirit of life in Hawaii.” “It really don’t matter / Where we go, where we go / We can just cruise,” Hawkins sings on the chorus, his voice conjuring images of sun soaked days at the beach.

“We struck lightning that day and really captured a great vibe and energy that’s very authentic to us,” noted Canha of the tune’s creation. “When Evan sang his idea for the hook, we already knew we were onto something special.”

“We’re really excited about how the track came together so organically and quickly,” Hawkins added. With an inviting island beat and intoxicating energy, “Just Cruise” is destined to be one of 2025’s summer anthems. Listen for yourself below.
