Anthony B has released World of Love, a new 16-track album that finds the Jamaican reggae veteran drawing from the roots, dancehall and spiritually minded songwriting that have defined his career for more than three decades.
Released September 4 through Ineffable Records, World of Love features Gentleman, Queen Omega, FIA, Mo’Kalamity, Shuga and Jazzwad. The title track opens the record with Gentleman, while the rest of the album moves through songs including “Rude Bwoy,” “Big City,” “Made From Love,” “Little Cottage,” “Jet Ski,” “Wake Up” and “Oh Jah.”
That range suits Anthony B. His catalog has always had room for militant roots reggae, dancehall records, devotional songs and music built simply to move a crowd. World of Love keeps those sides of his work together. The collaborations with Gentleman and Queen Omega lean into the record’s themes of love and unity, while tracks like “Jet Ski,” “Bubbling” and “Move U Body” keep one foot firmly planted in dancehall.
The album arrives during an especially active stretch for Anthony B. Several of its songs surfaced ahead of the full release, including “Good Music,” “Little Cottage” with Mo’Kalamity, “Made From Love” with Queen Omega, “Big City” with FIA and “Jet Ski” with Jazzwad.
Anthony B, born Keith Blair in Clark’s Town, Trelawny, came up singing in church and school choirs before entering Jamaican sound-system culture through Shaggy Hi-Power. By the mid-1990s, he had established himself with songs including “Fire Pon Rome” and “Raid Di Barn,” records that put social and political commentary at the center of his music.
That stance distinguished him during an era when dancehall was becoming increasingly dominant. Anthony B drew heavily from the revolutionary tradition of Peter Tosh and built his own career around Rastafarian spirituality, social justice and outspoken commentary without abandoning dancehall’s rhythmic immediacy. His official biography notes that he consciously rejected the girl-and-gun themes that were popular when he entered Kingston’s music scene.
He has remained remarkably prolific since. Albums such as Universal Struggle, Black Star, Freedom Fighter and 2023’s Bread & Butter have kept his music circulating across different generations of reggae listeners. “World A Reggae Music,” released on Black Star in 2005, remains one of the defining songs in his catalog, while 2020’s “Chill Out” introduced another durable song to his streaming-era output.
