Moon Taxi Drops Etherical Album “Highwave”

Nashville, Tennessee’s indie rock standouts Moon Taxi deliver an exuberant sonic escape on their new album Highwave, a record that feels tailor-made for warm nights, open skies, and long days by the ocean.

From the moment the album begins, Highwave creates an atmosphere that instantly transports the listener somewhere coastal and carefree. The record unfolds like a sun-soaked soundtrack, blending indie rock, reggae textures, soul, and breezy pop grooves into a collection of songs that feel equally suited for a beach party or a late-night drive with the windows down.

The title track “Highwave” immediately sets the tone for the album. Built around raw rhythm and bright instrumentation, the song opens the record with a rush of energy that signals the journey ahead.

One of the album’s most playful highlights arrives with “Wonderful,” featuring Tropidelic, a witty and seductive track that flows effortlessly. The chemistry between the bands gives the song a smooth, flirtatious groove that feels both relaxed and vibrant.

“Steady Rising” Feat. Mihali, pure smooth reggae and so soft, the music will relax you. “Diving Board” takes a different turn in the album, feeling more soul rock merging with instrumental symphonic melody. “Good To Me”, this is a lover’s track one can reminisce on good times under the stars.  “Golden Daze” with the Movement feels like this is telling the  story of lost love. It’s an emotional track, probably my favorite on the album.

“Barefoot on the Dancefloor” has a powerful, ocean-landscape energy. It’s passionate and delivers a smooth wave of love that completely washes over you.

“Flashback” feels less dramatic and more about vibing, carried by beautiful instrumentation and an easy, flowing movement. Another standout is “Pink Pony Club.” Their version is absolute brilliance, definitely one to crank all the way up. “Endless Holiday” featuring G. Love and Special Sauce is an absolute vibe. It blends talent effortlessly, bringing a positive hip groove. I had this track on repeat. “River Water” feat. Claire Wright is lush and smooth, delivering a calming, reflective mood that truly feels like water flowing.

“Summer’s Not Over Yet” is the perfect closer. It is catchy, uplifting, and filled with positive energy and beautiful beats.

This album is phenomenal. Its eloquence shines through every track, with stirring, provocative notes that radiate pure passion for living.
