Ripe Release Funk-Driven New Single “Nantucket” During Their Play The Game Tour

Boston-based funk-pop outfit Ripe have released their new single, “Nantucket,” through Ineffable Records, continuing to build on the infectious combination of funk, pop, rock, and groove-driven musicianship that has made the group a standout presence on the live music circuit.

The release arrives during the band’s Play The Game Tour, an extensive run of shows bringing Ripe’s high-energy performances to venues across North America.

For years, Ripe have occupied a distinctive space between funk, alternative pop, and the jam-adjacent live music community. Their sound draws from multiple genres without committing entirely to any one of them, creating music built around strong rhythms, melodic songwriting, and the chemistry of a band that developed through years of performing together.

The group originally formed through connections at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, where its members began developing the musical approach that would eventually become Ripe’s signature sound.

Led by vocalist Robbie Wulfsohn, the band has become known for its energetic performances, combining tight arrangements with the spontaneous excitement of live musicianship.

Previous projects, including their 2023 album Bright Blues, helped establish the group’s ability to translate that energy into studio recordings. The album leaned into polished pop songwriting while retaining the instrumental personality that first made Ripe stand out.

One of Ripe’s greatest strengths has always been the relationship between its recordings and performances. The band’s sound is rooted in real-time musical interaction, with each member contributing to arrangements that emphasize movement, groove, and collective energy.

That approach has helped Ripe build an enthusiastic following throughout the country, particularly among audiences that appreciate both carefully constructed songs and the excitement of live instrumentation.

With the Play The Game Tour continuing through the end of 2026, Ripe are giving fans plenty of opportunities to hear the new material in person.

For listeners who have followed the band from its early Boston shows through its increasingly ambitious national tours, “Nantucket” represents another chapter in Ripe’s ongoing development.
