Slightly Stoopid has shared a message to their fans after Bonnaroo was ruined by bad weather.
The famed music festival takes place every year in Manchester, Tennessee, with this year’s event scheduled for June 12-15. Slightly Stupid had been scheduled to perform at 4pm on Friday (June 13), but Mother Nature had other plans.
After a relatively problem-free Thursday, a downpour forced Bonnaroo to initially postpone all of its Friday performances, including Slightly Stoopid’s set. The entire festival was eventually canceled due to dangerous conditions. “We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo,” organizers explained is a post on the festival’s official website, noting that their decision was due to “significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days.”
In a message shared on Instagram, Slightly Stoopid expressed sympathy to those fans who had hoped to see them at Bonnaroo.
“When it’s 4:20 at Bonnaroo, ready to play and your set is rained out,” the band wrote, alongside an image of frontman Miles Doughty blowing a cloud of smoke. “God bless it! Sorry to all the fans who showed up to rock out with us. We appreciate you all and will see you soon.”
Slightly Stoopid will continue their Step Into the Sun summer tour with performances stretching through September. Iration and Little Stranger will join them for many stops along the trek.
Meanwhile, Bonnaroo has already began the process of issuing refunds to everyone who purchased tickets to this year’s events. Of course, that only covers part of the cost, as many fans travel from out of state for the famous fest.
