Diane Warren Reimagines Her Catalog With Reggae Compilation Featuring Common Kings, Fiji, Makua and More

Legendary songwriter Diane Warren is stepping into a new lane with Songs in the Key of Diane: A Reggae Compilation of Diane Warren Songs, a 13-track project set to drop July 31 that reworks some of her most recognizable songs through a reggae and island lens.

Known for penning massive hits across pop, rock, and R&B, Warren’s catalog gets a full reinterpretation here, with a lineup that leans heavily into reggae and Pacific Island artists. The first preview arrives with Common Kings taking on “Rhythm of the Night,” flipping the 1985 classic into a laid-back, island-driven groove.

The project blends well-known hits with deeper cuts and previously unreleased material, all reimagined by a diverse group of artists. Contributors include Fiji, Pia Mia, Anuhea, Sammy Johnson, Eli-Mac, Makua Rothman, and Gramps Morgan, among others.

The album was curated and co-produced alongside Regime Music Group president Steven Rosen, connecting Warren’s songwriting legacy with a new generation of artists rooted in reggae and island music.

Rather than straightforward covers, Songs in the Key of Diane reframes Warren’s songwriting through a different rhythmic and cultural perspective. The project underscores a core idea behind her catalog — that strong songwriting can transcend genre entirely.

That concept shows up throughout the tracklist, from reggae reinterpretations of pop staples to unreleased songs finding new life through artists uniquely suited to carry them forward.

One of the most notable moments comes from Fiji’s recording of “You Kind of Beautiful,” marking the late artist’s final recording before his passing in 2025, adding an emotional weight to the project.
