The Elovaters Drop Shark Belly Motel, Expanding Their Coastal Alt Sound

Boston’s own The Elovaters continue their steady rise with the release of their new album Shark Belly Motel, a project that further cements their place at the intersection of alternative, alt-pop, and reggae-rock.

Following the success of their 2023 album Endless Summer, the band returns with a more expansive and collaborative effort. Shark Belly Motel features appearances from Dirty Heads, Bryce Vine, and DENM—a lineup that reflects both their roots in the coastal reggae scene and their growing crossover appeal into alternative and pop spaces.

Where Endless Summer leaned into breezy, sun-soaked melodies, Shark Belly Motel feels more intentional in its evolution. The band builds on their signature laid-back grooves while incorporating sharper hooks, polished production, and a broader emotional range. It’s a natural progression for a group that has spent the last few years refining their sound both in the studio and on the road.

That road-tested chemistry has been a key part of their trajectory. After joining Rebelution on tour last year, The Elovaters quickly proved their ability to connect with large audiences. They followed that run with a 19-date headlining tour in late 2025, and more recently wrapped a 27-date stretch that included two hometown shows at Boston’s MGM Music Hall.

Their momentum shows no signs of slowing. The band is set to headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the first time this May—a milestone performance that has already sold out. From there, they’ll head back out on the road this summer alongside Slightly Stoopid, further expanding their reach across the national touring circuit.

Shark Belly Motel arrives at a pivotal moment for The Elovaters. It captures a band moving beyond “rising” status and stepping into a more established role within the modern reggae and alternative landscape.
