The Green
The Green formed in 2009 on the island of Oahu and have blended traditional Hawaiian vibes with roots reggae. The band is also known for their savvy songwriting and each member’s abilities on their respective instruments to match 4-part harmonies. Their self-titled release in 2010 brought them into the mainstream with their song “Love I”. The album set a record by remaining on the Billboard charts for 69 straight weeks and was named iTunes Best Reggae Album of the Year.
The latest album Hawai’i ’13, has received critical acclaim with constant plays from multiple tracks on the airwaves from coast to coast, as well as being voted Album of the Year for the 2013 Piear Awards. They also performed a live acoustic rendering of their newer song “Good One” for The Pier’s Live Acoustic Series….Oh yeah, AND the band is nominated for the prestigious Hawaiian Hoku Award for Favorite Artist and Group of the Year. The winners will be announced during the California Roots Festival.
The band will continue the remainder of their California Tour that had to be rescheduled due to their performances on Oahu with Bruno Mars. This is the 3rd straight year The Green has agreed to The Pier’s Meet N Greet at Cali-Roots and with a growing fan base, we always see new faces each year waiting to meet the group! Get there early!
